Sheraton Noosa Resort And Spa. Reviewed: August 2009. #2645

Unfortunately we were given a room on level 3 and the room and the whole wing had a strong damp odour. The room was quite dark and the smell was so unpleasant I spoke to the reception staff later on our first afternoon to advise them of this. The female staff member who spoke to me was very blunt and said we'll send someone with a vaporiser to deodorise your room. I asked if there were any other rooms we could be moved to and advised that I had a migraine and didn't want to smell chemical smells and she said no, that I would need to speak to the maintenance person when he arrived.

The 'vaporiser' was delivered after half an hour and I was told it would give off a smell but that it shouldn't be too strong. We put up with the smell and the room for the night with no improvement and the next morning I again spoke to reception staff to advise that the odour was a definite issue and that I was quite unhappy with the room.

Continued from above review: That female staff member was much more polite and considerate and offered to change our room to one on level 5. The room was much nicer, much brighter and had no damp odour.

We were on a very short break with only 2 nights in Noosa and had spent the Friday night at the Quay West Apartments in Brisbane so it was very disappointing to have payed more to stay at the Sheraton and to be stuck in such an awful room for 1/2 our stay.

For a 4. 5star accommodation, the 2 bedroom apartment was very mediocre, more to the comfort of a 3 star or motel unit. The window sills in the bedrooms had rust all over them. The lounge room was like a curtained prison room, because if you opened the curtains you would see into everyone elses place and the cane sofas were very very uncomfortable, the only comfortable thing there was the bed. The whole decore was very dated and needed a paint, the dirt on the arms of the cane sofas was disgusting and very visible.

After asking at the office for an upgrade, the attitude was, well youre only staying 2 nights, and thats what you get when you book online. Obviously, I should have booked direct with them, but I somehow doubt that the comfort level would improve. The owners were very unhelpful and rude, and we certainly did not feel like we got value for money when spending 175 per night, I have stayed at 4 star accommodation less for that and far more luxurious.

We were very disappointed.

The town seemed nice enough, and the beached were lovely.

Disappointed as the apartment was very dark. No windows in either the bedroom or bathroom with kitchen having 2 rows of brick tiles as the source of light. No screens on doors to balcony which led to mosquitoes entering via the only fresh air option. Bathroom had no exhaust. Location was good being only 200 m from river.

First stay, last stay

The address of the property is Hastings Street but it is behind Hastings Street. It is misleading. The air conditioning did not work and I was not able to contact assistance as the hotel was not attended to after (I think) 6. 00p. As we were not using the AC till later in the evening the stay was most uncomfortable

Wonderful view but a shame that the unit has not been maintained to level we expected for the price. The unit in which we stayed was tired and in need of a good scrub. Mould on lampshades, in bathrooms and linen needs replacing. Some furniture extremely worn. Unsure what the rest of the units in this property are like.

The air conditioning was not working.

The room was large and nice. Unfortunately the air conditioner did not work. It was also incredibly loud. Despite opening all the windows after turning off the AC to try and get some air flow, the place didn't seem to catch a breeze and consequently I did not enjoy my stay. I told reception in the morning about the air conditioner and they were apologetic and said that they'd had problems with other ones but were not aware of a problem with the one in that apartment.

Personally I found that very hard to believe, because if you turned it on, I think that you would hear that something was wrong with it. Apart from that the room was located in a great position, and had the AC worked, I probably would have enjoyed my stay.
